G E R A L D
An art director, designer, and brand developer.
MY STORY
Growing up, my parents kept hundreds of National Geographic magazines in an old, wooden trunk. I spent many long afternoons reading from one stack to another until I’ve emptied it all out. Seeing those old architectures, images of nature, stunning landscapes, and unfamiliar cultures through those pages taught me two important life lessons:
Always STAY CURIOUS & notably just as valuable is the POWER of TIMELESS BRANDING.
Throughout my life and career, I have carried those same ideologies ever since.
The wisdom and experience I’ve gained from Staying Curious have become important sources of creative inspiration, personal growth and adaptability. Perhaps in my young mind, I subconsciously absorbed the visual cues from the magazine’s layouts, typography, colors, photography and most apparent, the Bright Yellow Rectangle. It’s iconographic visual branding has framed every single issue, and remains as the organization’s logo, and its multiple sub-brands. That is the power of solid branding.
As with my design approach, thinking and aesthetic, having an impact, authenticity and lasting impression holds tremendous value. Finding the right balance and combinations of function, relevance, intention, and brand personality is all part of the challenge, the fun and successes in creating good work. Above all, the gratitude and rewards of knowing it was all worthwhile.
I hope my journey and work inspires you.
